Squishy Preservation: The Ultimate Guide to Proper Storage 🏠

So, you’ve started a collection from Messimaze, and your desk is slowly being taken over by cute mochi friends. We love that! But if you simply toss them all into one big drawer, you might be in for a nasty surprise next time you go to grab one.

Because our toys are made of specialized, ultra-soft Silicone and TPR, they require a little bit of "personal space" to stay in perfect shape. Here is how to store your collection like a pro in 2026.

The Golden Rules of Squishy Storage

🚫 Rule 1: No "Squishy Piles"

If you stack squishies on top of each other, the weight of the ones on top will cause the ones on the bottom to deform permanently. Over time, that cute round cat might end up with a flat face. Always store them in a single layer if possible.

🌈 Rule 2: Beware of Color Transfer

This is the most common mistake! Different materials (especially from different brands) can have a chemical reaction if they touch for a long time. The pigments can "migrate," leaving a permanent pink stain on your white squishy. Keep different types separated.

☀️ Rule 3: The Sun is the Enemy

Direct UV light can break down the chemical bonds in soft-gel toys, making them brittle, discolored, or even "melty" and sticky. Keep your storage box in a cool, shaded area away from windows.

Storage Comparison: Do's vs. Don'ts

Storage Method Status Why?
Individual Acrylic Cubes DO Prevents sticking and looks amazing.
Grid Jewelry Boxes DO Perfect for small mochis; keeps them separated.
Ziploc Bags (Unsealed) DO Cheap and effective for preventing dust.
A Big Toy Chest/Bin DON'T Causes deformation and color transfer.
Hot Attic/Garage DON'T High heat will melt the material.

The "Talcum" Secret

If you are planning to store your toys for a long period (more than a month), give them a light dusting of cornstarch or baby powder before putting them away. This acts as a dry barrier that prevents them from sticking to the container or themselves.
