Squishy First Aid: How to Fix a Torn or Leaking Toy 🩹

It’s a sad day when your favorite stress-relief companion gets a "boo-boo." Whether it was a particularly stressful meeting that led to an over-enthusiastic squeeze, or an accidental encounter with a sharp fingernail, tears happen.

Because squishies are made of ultra-soft materials like Silicone or TPR, they aren't indestructible. But before you say goodbye, try these "First Aid" steps to extend their life!

🧰 Your Repair Kit Checklist

  • Fabric Glue or Flexible Super Glue (Look for "flexible" on the label)
  • Clear Silicone Sealant (Best for Silicone squishies)
  • Toothpicks (For precision application)
  • Cornstarch/Baby Powder (To remove stickiness after drying)

The Repair Process

1 Clean the Area: Make sure the "wound" is free of dust and oil. Use a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab if needed, but let it dry completely.

2 Apply the "Stitches": Use a toothpick to apply a very thin layer of flexible glue inside the tear. Don't overdo it, or it will create a hard lump that ruins the squishy feel.

3 The Wait: Press the edges together for 30 seconds, then let it sit undisturbed for at least 24 hours. Patience is key for a strong bond!

4 Powder Up: Once dry, the repaired area might be sticky. Pat a little baby powder on it to restore that smooth finish.

When is it time to let go?

If your squishy is leaking liquid or slime from multiple places, or if it has been torn into several pieces, it might be time for a replacement. Safety first: if the inner filling is exposed and you have pets or small children, it's best to retire that toy.

Note: Repaired squishies will never be quite as strong as new ones. Treat your "healed" friends with extra gentleness!

How to Prevent Future Injuries

  • Avoid using your fingernails—squeeze with the pads of your fingers.
  • Keep them away from pets (dogs love the texture, but their teeth do not!)
  • Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
